Dylan decided last week that he was going to start telling me when he had to pee. We are now in big boy underwear and have only had a couple of accidents and those were in the first 2 days. He is doing so well. He even wakes up dry from bedtime and naptime, well most of the time. The other night he woke up in the middle of the night and called for me to take him potty. I never thought you could be so proud of someone for going on the potty but we are. I am amazed every day that he's still doing it. I keep thinking he's going to change his mind and not do it anymore but he is so excited about it. Its kind of nice too, because we went to buy diapers just the week before he started and realized how much it was going to be to have 2 in diapers, wow.
I just love this picture. Dylan is such a proud big brother. Sometimes he gets a little rough but I think he means well. Kyla is going to be a tough little girl with Dylan around. Kyla had her 1 month check up yesterday (I know I can't believe its been a month already either). She is up to 9lbs 9 oz and 21 1/2 inches. Its crazy how fast she's growing. She's starting to get chubby cheeks and some rolls on her thighs. She's filling out exactly like Dylan did and their weight gain from birth to 1 month is almost identical. She is awake more often and very alert. She will coo and smile off and on, ecspecially with Dylan. He gets so excited that shes talking to him. Well here's some photos I did of her this week.
She's trying so hard to hold her head up. She's doing pretty good too.
Gene has worked hard and got our pool opened and ready these last couple of weeks. Our pool never gets really warm though because its in the shade until afternoon, but Dylan has been dying to jump in it. Well he and daddy did last night. Yes they picked the only day the last few weeks that wasn't in the 80s no it was only like 75 all day and they didn't even get in it until after 7pm. But they had fun. Here's pictures of Dylan swimming. I have video too but I downloaded it and now I can't find it on the computer so I'll have to wait for Gene to help me. Oh pictures are PG13 for some mild nudity from Dylan...
Every time he jumped in his pants fell off. It was pretty funny. He'd turn around and tell Daddy to pull them up, or he'd just walk around with them like that. Loved the water, and was trying to kick and do his arms too.
Here are some new pics of Kyla too. Tell me what you think, does she have Dylan's big eyes? I think she might...
I love this picture with Mammaw Goat
oh and I just wanted to share this picture of Dylan, because I love it...
So our doctors decided to induce labor in my 39th week due to the antibodies I had created. It was weird knowing we were going to the hospital to have a baby and I wasn't even in pain. We were up and leaving at 5 am, which was pretty early for Gene but he did okay with it. Here is the last belly picture:
A picture of mommy and daddy before they had started anything. Once they broke my water and started my pitocin I didn't even make it 2 hours before I was asking for an epidural. I thought that I would wait so I could get up but since the doctor broke my water I wasn't allowed out of bed anyways, so why not be numb.
Kyla Grace was born at 1:47 pm May 17th. She was 6lbs 12 oz and 20 inches long. When they placed her on my chest I thought she looked so much like what Dylan did when he was born but the more I see her now the less she does. Delivery was a little different this time I went from 6 cm, 75% to fully dilated and fully efaced in less then a 1/2 hour, which didn't give my redose for my epidural time to kick in on my right side so I got to feel everything on that side. I guess it was helpful because I did not want to stop pushing and she was out in like 15 minutes. So glad it didn't take as long as it did with Dylan, it was very painful. But here she is and she was worth every bit of it: Dylan was so excited to meet her. But he quickly became more interested in mommy's water and all of the things mommy was hooked up to.
He is so proud.Daddy and his baby girl. This is after she had to be in the CCN, its like NICU but not as serious and the babies are allowed to go back and forth from their parents to the unit. They were watching her for jaundice and anemia. They were pretty sure she would eventually need the bili lights for her jaundice. And she did. It was very hard the first time I saw her in here but it got easier she always seemed pretty content when I would go to check on her. Finally going home. She had to stay one extra day on the lights so we came home on Thursday. Here are some pictures from our first night home and the following day. We got a call Friday afternoon that her blood test from that morning had went way up and she needed to be readmitted. This was by far the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I hated that I had to take her back and not hold her again while she was on the lights. I was so upset that I had to turn around and leave Dylan again after we had just come home with him. We finally found a middle ground and I ended up leaving her overnight Friday to come back home with Dylan and went straight back up Saturday morning with her and stayed until Sunday afternoon when she got to come home for good. Her heels looked awful from all of the sticks. They almost looked purple from all of them. So we got to come home on Sunday but she had to be on whats called a bili blanket. It had to be plugged into the wall so it was incredibly annoying. She could only come off for feedings and diaper changes. But it was so much work to get it back on that didn't always take it off for those. She got to come off of it on Thursday and everything looks great now. We are finally getting to adjust to the fun of having 2 children and its been extremely wonderful and exhausting all at the same time.
So we're down to 3 weeks until the new baby comes. Dylan is pretty funny, we've been talking more about his baby sister coming, especially because he is in his new big boy room/bed and the nursery has been re-finished for his new baby sister. The other day he looked at me and said "I want to hold my baby sister" I told him he'd have to wait because she was still in mommy's tummy, but that when she came out he could hold her all he wanted. He just said "oh" and went on. He is getting to be such a character. I have a video of him showing me how he gets so big, but it's on Gene's phone so I will have to get him to send it to me so I can post it, it's hilarious. Here's a picture though that might show a little bit of his character Daddy pulled his shirt up like this and he just thought it was so funny. Now he tries to do it all of the time. He is stretching the neck hole out of all his shirts, but its still pretty funny. Here's a picture of part of Dylan's new room Gene built this shelf and then I got the totes from Target. I love it. It's so much better than just a toy box, because he can find of all his toys and he doesn't climb in and out of the box and get hurt anymore. He was so excited when we cleaned out the other toy box, he found so many "new" toys. He is doing pretty good with the new bed too. He will get up in the middle of the night and come find me sometimes but its not as bad as I thought it would be. I can always hear him coming so I just meet him halfway and take him back to bed. He's been sleeping pretty good though. We've only had a few bad nights so far.
One last picture here is the painted nursery. Still need to get decorations up and everything put away but here it is so far:
And I will have you know that I, not Gene, did that straight line. I was for sure I couldn't do it so it would look nice, but Gene has so many other projects he's trying to get done for me and he's coaching baseball so he hasn't had a lot of time to help me with the nursery and I was getting very anxious to get the paint colors on and see them that I just did it myself. Gene did tell me how to do it so it would be straight, but I was so excited when it turned out so nice. And the brown on the bottom was left over from our bedroom so we saved money there. I'd like to get some stuffed animals and some more flower things to hang to make it more babyish but this probably one of my favorite rooms right now. Well, I will post a belly pic now. I am almost 37 weeks, and feeling every inch of this baby. She feels big, or maybe its just she's long I don't know, but she is definitley running out of room.
And yes that's Gene's t-shirt and it's getting too small. I am going to make it on what clothes I have left, even if that means wearing belly tops. I will not buy more maternity clothes.
I hope you all enjoy, my next post will probably be with the new baby and considering my past record on how often I get on here she might be 6 months old by then.
So Dylan turned 2 in March. Time is going so fast I can't believe it. We had the party here and it went great. He got all kinds of Toy Story things. Probably his favorite were his Buzz rubber boots and his toy Woody doll. He didn't take the boots all night and then he cried when I did. Here are a few pictures from his party. After everyone left we were sitting and relaxing when we heard Dylan saying "I eat my happy birthday cake" and in my mind I'm thinking what's he talking about I put all of the cake away. So we get up to go see and here's what we find Yep that is straight icing at 9pm. It was pretty funny though.
Here is Dylan's 2 year picture that aunt Janna did for us:
I absolutely love this picture of him. I'm glad Janna was able to do it because he wouldn't have been fun at a photo studio at all. He is not one to be confined thats for sure. I will post again soon about Easter and how the pregnancy is going, but right now I'm too tired.
I am a very blessed woman, married my best friend and high school sweetheart in 2006. We had our first baby in March 2008. We had our 2nd a little girl in May 2010. They are so much fun and the loves of both mine and my husband's lives. I started this blog to have a sort of journal of our lives as our family grows. So bear with me, I'm not a writer or anything special, just wanted to share our journey with family and friends that are far away.
